The First Energy Absorbing "FLARED" End Terminal
to Meet NCHRP 350 TL-3

PERFORMANCE

The FLEAT 350  (Flared Energy Absorbing Terminal)  opens a new era  for  "flared"  guardrail terminal systems and offers significant safety and economical advantages over existing parabolic curved flared terminals.  For end-on impacts, the vehicle is controlled in a much more predictable behavior.

The straight flare improves the performance for traffic face redirection impacts.   The straight flare allows the rail to develop its tensile capacity and load the anchor cable much sooner which reduced vehicle pocketing and snagging.

Faster and Easier Installation
and Maintenance - Fewer Parts

The rail is placed at a 4 foot "straight" flare, not a parabolic layout that is required for the BCT type systems.  The 4 foot straight flare over the 37'-6" terminal length requires much less layout time.  There is no need to layout a separate offset for each post.  All the posts are in a straight line.   Also, the   FLEAT 350  has fewer posts and significantly fewer small components than any other flared terminal.  These features greatly reduce the installation and maintenance time along with inventory requirements.
